Newfoundland – Part I

The ferry arrived to the island of Newfoundland just as the sun was rising. It had been a long night, neither of us really sleeping much on the ferry despite the ample leg room and comfortable, semi-reclining chairs. We had originally thought that we would get a campsite close to the ferry for the day and then head the next morning to Stephenville in order to take Piper to the vet, but as we drove off the ferry, Derek said he felt pretty good, so we drove the 165 km to Stephenville.

Halifax and Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia

May 22, 2019 – June 5, 2019

We were pleased when Piper walked casually into her kennel for the short flight from Toronto to Halifax (a cookie really does go a long way with her), and after a night in a hotel near the airport outside of Halifax, we taxied into the city and to our home for the next week, a room in a shared Airbnb house in central Halifax.

Rio Dulce

Many travellers have heard of Lago Atitlan in Guatemala, but the largest lake in Guatemala is the less visited Lago de Isabel, at the outlet of which lies the small harbour town of Rio Dulce.  The Rio Dulce river then flows about 40 kilometres out to the town of Livingston and the Caribbean Sea.
