Beach time

We drove south from Mazatlan to an ocean front campground near the town of Teacapan called Color Marino RV Park.  We took the libre (free) road, instead of the toll road, travelling through several small towns.  Peoples’ reaction to us varied from enthusiastic smiles and waves, to slight frowns (damn tourists!), to indifference.  Many of the small towns we drove through looked very poor, and we later learned that many farms in the area were badly damaged by hurricanes and have not recovered.

The camp at Color Marino was empty when we arrived save for one camper, a woman from Canada in her early seventies that drives down by herself every year to spend the winter with the Mexican people that she so loves.  (Hello A.!)  She was over to welcome us to camp, give us the lowdown, and soon we were talking about our route.  She had a wealth of information on places to visit, how to get there, places to not bother with and places to avoid.

Frigate! No, I am not swearing, the bird is called a frigate.

Our friend in California has a magnet on her fridge that reads, “How old would you be if you didn’t know your age?”, and this so applies to A.  She is young and energetic and open-minded and is living the life that she wants to live.

Here is a little video of the beach in front of the camp…..with sound…. sorry John, no narration!

Piper has discovered a new favourite pass time….chasing crabs on the beach.  She doesn’t know quite what to do with them when she catches one, and is constantly surprised when the larger ones give her a good pinch.  Hours of entertainment for all of us.

Sand up the nose is apparently worth the fun of crabbing.

After two nights at Color Marino, we drove further south to a campground in the little town of Lo de Marcos, north of Puerto Vallarta.  The campground is called El Caracol (The Snail), and is a gorgeous campground on a beach that is a little piece of paradise!

The gardens of this campground are amazing!

Our campground is behind these palm trees.

Kind of want to keep this place a secret…don’t tell anyone else about this place, okay?

Sand between our toes is apparently worth the fun of a beach side Pina Colada!

We’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback about our dash cam videos.  All was working fine, until the last few days when I started having trouble getting the dash cam to work using the app we had downloaded to our phone.  The dash cam is Car and Driver brand.  I sent Car and Driver a few emails asking for assistance, but did not get a response.  I ended up finding what looked like the exact same dash cam sold by a company called Rove.  I emailed them and they replied immediately, even through I had explained that I had bought the Car and Driver dash cam.  I think, with their help, that I have the camera working again.  If you are interested in buying a dash cam, I would encourage you to do so through Rove… gotta love good customer service!

And so, here is a little video we made while driving through, what I think, is Las Varas….hope that is correct.  Nice little town.  I sped up the video to double time and tried compressing the size… we will see how it goes.
